Insurgent by Veronica Roth

I was against reading the Divergent series. It was the time when it seemed like every author was trying their hand at writing a dystopian novel. I figured, you read one, you've read them all. Luckily, my friends persuaded me otherwise and I couldn't put Divergent down. The same thing happened with Insurgent. In Insurgent, we see Tris in a more vulnerable and raw state after losing her parents. She struggles with who she is and what her purpose is; something that everyone can relate to on some level. But dealing with this on the verge of a war erupting is difficult for any girl trying to find her way.

I did watch the Insurgent movie after I finished the novel and I had high hopes because the Divergent movie was actually pretty close to the book. Unfortunately, I didn't feel the same way after watching Insurgent. I felt that the movie just took a completely different plot then the novel. Honestly, I'm a little worried about the path they are going to continue to take for the next film. You don't really see Tris's struggle with herself and Tobias in the movie. You don't see a lot of character development in the movie, which granted, is hard to do when you only have two hours to fit everything in.
