DIY Pat McGrath Lipstick Kit
Today, the OG Pat McGrath launches her Lipstick Kits! When I saw that she was coming out with them, I thought that it wasn't going to be wearable in real life but I was endlessly fascinated by the glitter. That kind of shattered when I saw they were going to be $60 a pop.
Now, you are getting a bit of product for $60. You get two different lip shades, two different glitters, and a lip gloss. That's a little more than $10 per item, which I could rationalize. But the more I thought about it, the more I wondered if I could just do it at home. I have lipstick. I have glitter. And I have lip gloss. So I gave it a go.
GUYS, IT WORKED. I was showing everyone going off about how I used a $6 glitter and put it on top of a lipstick I wore to senior prom and it looked bomb.
Better yet, there was no fall out. The only downside is that you can't eat with this on. I'm not sure if you can eat with Pat's but I'm going to assume that you can't.
So I used Mac Viva Glam Lipstick in Viva Glam V or Lustre ($17). I swear, for my senior prom, I got my makeup done at the Mac counter and ended up with the lipstick. I went through phases of loving it and hating it and right now I'm loving it. So I just applied that and blotted some of it off.
Then I applied just a little bit of the NYX Cosmetics Glitter Primer ($6) just because I wanted to make sure that the glitter would stick. I was worried because I'm not really sure if you can/should put this on your lips, but that was something I was willing to risk.
Then I went into NYX Cosmetics Face and Body Glitter in Rose ($5.99). I just poured some into the cap and used my fingers to pat it onto my lips.
I didn't use a gloss because I didn't think it was needed and I liked the way it looked without. You could totally add it if you want it.
And that's it. It's that easy. I'd much rather do this than spend $60 on a kit that does the same thing. Especially since this isn't something you wear everyday. Or maybe you do. It's not like it's a $60 product you have to spare.
