Yes, You Can Wear Blue Eyeshadow
I get it. We have grown up in a time wear our moms told us not to wear blue eyeshadow. Instantly, images of bright blue eyeshadow with bold red lips, and teased hair come to mind. But blue eyeshadow has gotten a bad rap, I promise that it's totally wearable. It just depends on the tone of blue you choose.
For this look, I used my Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette. The blue eyeshadow that I used was Slanted from the palette, which is a blue-silver shade. This is a perfect example of a blue eyeshadow that is easy to pull off even with red hair. I did a little bit of a smoky eyeshadow look using Password, a matte gray, and Whiskey, a warm matte brown in the outer corner. I paired my eye look with Fuel, a creamy warm peachy nude lipstick. I just dabbed this on my lips to sheer it out. The peach and silvery blue well together because blue and orange are on the opposite sides of the color wheel! Color combinations like blue and orange, red and green, and yellow and purple are always good choices because they are opposites on the color wheel, they are complementary. Just be wary of the shades of the colors you use. My blue and orange look works the tones aren't screaming for your attention. I wouldn't recommend wearing bright blue eyeshadow with bright orange lipstick.
You can even wear Dagger, the sapphire shade in this palette! I would pair this with a pretty nude lip and a warm-toned outfit. I have a pretty burnt pumpkin sweater I have in mind for this shade.
Blue eyeshadow is very flattering on most eye colors. The right shade of blue eyeshadow can make blue eyes brighter and brown/hazel eyes pop. This is a fun way to change it up from time to time and at the end of the day, you can just wash it all off.
