Having Your Birthday Near Valentine's Day Sucks

I haven't written an article in a while, but I have a lot of ideas I want to write about. It's just a matter of finding a time to just sit down to write them.

“Do you want flowers on your birthday or for Valentine’s Day?”

This is a question that a guy I dated asked me last year and one that has been asked many times before that. I’m also quite sure it won’t be the last. You see, my birthday is February 9th, five days before Valentine’s Day. More often than not, people try to combine the two. It sucks.

I understand why they try to do it. Everything is more expensive around Valentine’s Day. Flowers, for example. Dessert of any kind. Even restaurants are more packed around this time of year. I should know, just the other day I had to go to three different places to try to find a wait time that was less than an hour. This is what happens when you don’t make reservations and Valentine’s Day is on a weekday.
